The slowdown of the Ukrainian retail market is a direct consequence of the current political tensions, first those surrounding the Ukraine-EU agreement, and the developments concerning Crimea and eastern Ukraine.

For 2015-2019, it is nearly impossible to forecast developments until the extent of the crisis escalation is known. According to our scenario, the parties will find a solution to resolve their problem soon, as a prolonged conflict is not in the interest of any of the players. Thus, we estimate a further drop in the retail market growth for 2014, but a strong revival in subsequent years.
