  • The harmonised food consumer price index was negative for most countries in 2014. In the period October 2014-September 2015, deflation continued in all of the CE countries except Bulgaria.
  • Based on the respective countries size in terms of population and economic development, the Polish grocery market is over-represented while the Romanian market is under-developed, based on the 2014 data.
  • Per capita market value is expected to surpass €1,300 in 2015, as measured in constant exchange rates.

"After a few years marked by stagnation or very limited increases, the Central European grocery market is expected to enter a period of more rapid growth in the next few years, according to PMR forecasts. What is more, the growth will be recorded in all regional markets, although the rates will vary significantly between the countries.
