  • Brands of construction chemicals most often indicated by respondents in unaided recall are: Atlas (42%), Henkel (Ceresit) (30%) and Mapei (27%).
  • On average, the contractors use 4.7 kg of adhhesive mortar per one square metre in tiling orders placed with their companies.
  • A vast majority of respondents use cement-based grouts (83%), while 17% of the interviewees used ready-made acrylic products.
  • The most popular tiles are those made by Opoczno (43%), Paradyz (32%), Cersanit (16%) and Tubadzin (14%).
  • Half of brickwork projects are carried out with thin-joints of 1 to 3 mm (48%), while 42% of orders involve the use of the traditional thick-joint masonry moratr of 6 to 15 mm.

  • Renovation and construction companies offering the installation of thermal insulation systems complete an average 13 orders a year. Orders involving installation of thermal insulation systems on an area of 101-200 m² represent the bulk of projects (39%).
  • 61% of projects are completed using ready-mix screeds. Companies using mortar mixed on site tend to purchase ingredients of the following brands: Gorazdze (26%), Lafarge (23%) and Ozarow (19%).
  • 82% of projects involving the use of the traditional, thick-coat plasterwork are external wall jobs. The average thickness of external wall plaster is 1.67 cm.

 

Market commentary by expert

 

This was the fourth wave of the survey of the construction chemicals market. It covered several hundred small and medium-sized contractors. The companies were divided into five groups according specialisation: tiling, masonry works, and installation of thermal-insulation systems, floor screeding and thick-coat plastering. We conducted over hundred interviews for each of the groups.

Construction companies perform an average of 15 orders a year. Tiling orders represent the largest group (22). Wall-construction orders (11) and the installation of thermal insulation systems (13) represent significantly smaller groups of orders. The bulk of orders are in the lowest-price bracket of up to PLN 10,000 (45%) and the medium-price bracket of PLN 10,001-50,000 (42%). High-budget orders account for 15% of construction orders in the Polish market.
