Price recovery in the Polish construction chemicals market - November 2011

Increases in cement, electricity and fuel prices combined with improvement in the residential construction market triggered the prices of construction chemicals to start to rise slightly in 2011 after three years of price correction; price growth is expected to accelerate in the coming months. However, intense competition existing in the construction market is a barrier preventing the prices of the materials from growing more rapidly.

The years of 2007 and 2008 saw a wide gap between the prices of work involving construction chemicals and the prices of general construction services, but the margin between the two categories substantially narrowed down in 2009, mostly as a result of the downturn in the residential construction market. In September 2011, the growth rates for the two categories stood at around 1.5% year on year.
