Imaging diagnostics market in Poland: EU funds – a key stimulus to market development - August 2010

Since in Poland the EU funding is a key source of financing to purchase imaging diagnostic equipment, the public sector – whose purchases are largely co-funded by the EU – has not been affected by the crisis and a high euro exchange rate which in turn had a slightly negative impact on procurements for the equipment in the private sector in 2009. The Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment (OPI&E) for 2007-2013 is co-funded from the Cohesion Fund and the European Regional Development Fund. The OPI&E supports six economy sectors including health protection. Healthcare establishments are supported based on Priority 12 (Health security and improving the efficiency of the healthcare system), Actions 12.1 (Development of the medical rescue systems) and 12.2 (Investment in healthcare infrastructure at the supra-regional level). The latter provides funding for the imaging equipment.
