CEE construction goes green - July 2009

The global market for green building materials is expected to increase by 25% over the next five years, to almost $600bn. It is probable that, in a reaction to the global economic recession, construction companies, manufacturers and end users are now more focused on sustainability and thus more receptive toward greener products. Demand on this market continues to grow, in both the commercial and residential arenas, for building materials which have a less severe environmental impact than their conventional analogues. Commercial office buildings will account for the bulk of demand for green building materials between now and 2013, but new residential construction and home improvements will play a vital role in driving development and market acceptance of green building materials, and will become a testing ground for larger commercial projects.
