More dietary supplements crowd store shelves - September 2008

The number of OTC products sold through hypermarkets varies from 80 to 200 per store. The average hypermarket in Poland has 1201 products with drug status, dietary supplements or herbs on its shelves. The percentage share of dietary supplements in retail sales is growing at an increasing rate, as this OTC product group records the highest growth in sales value. Overall, the non-pharmacy OTC market in Poland was worth PLN 785m (€208m)3 in 2007, and, based on our projections it may expand to PLN 1.1bn (approx. €320m) by 2010.
