As a result of the economic slowdown and the less substantial inflow of foreign capital, in 2009 the growth rate of the Western Balkan construction market will dwindle to approximately 6% from 12% in 2008. More robust growth will not be possible before 2011. In future years civil engineering will be the driving force in the Western Balkan construction industry.
